Björn Gerhards started taking pictures in the early 90s. After finishing school he assisted two photographers working at the “highlight” studio in Hamburg (www.highlightfotografie.de). He realized that photography was his passion and decided to become a professsional photographer.
To cut a long story short he moved to Berlin and started studying professional photography for a period of three years.

Since 2006 he is a freelance photographer based in Hamburg. Björn Gerhards' work ranges from the streetriots of the g8-summits to wedding photojournalism and is characterized by his ability to capture special and precise moments in life.  From 2013 to 2020 he worked for Hapag-Lloyd Cruises on the Expeditionships "MS BREMEN" and "MS HANSEATIC" and surrounded our beautiful planet several times, including 12 journeys to Arctica and 23 journeys to Antarctica.
